Picabo
When she was nine years old, Lindsey Vonn met Olympic gold medal skier Picabo Street at an autograph signing at a ski shop in Minnesota. It’s an encounter that the most decorated female alpine skier of all time credits with her desire to become an Olympian. Vonn pays tribute to her hero in Picabo, a documentary she co-directs with Frank Marshall. It chronicles Street’s unorthodox childhood in rural Idaho, her Olympic success, her recoveries from multiple injuries and her arrest in 2015. Picabo is available to stream on Peacock.
Everyday Eileen
Staying with the world of skiing…Beijing Winter Olympics gold and silver medalist Eileen Gu is the world’s top female freestyle skier. She’s also a teenager who earned one of her two gold medals landing a trick she hadn’t previously tried. Her mom, who was at the bottom of the jump that day in Beijing, advised her to do something else. Eileen said, “Mom, executive call here. Vetoed. I am going to make the 16, and you are going to deal with it.” Everyday Eileen is four short videos on Red Bull TV that capture this feisty spirit as Eileen trains pre-Olympics. There’s no insight into Gu’s choice to represent China instead of the U.S. here. Rather, it’s a light and breezy behind-the-scenes look at the life of a world class teenage athlete.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty
A drama that focuses on the team’s rise in the 1980’s, this 10-episode series is nostalgia driven and will please fans of the franchise. If you’re neither of those things, it’s still worth pushing through a chaotic first episode. Once the series settles down and focuses on individual players and staffers, it’s an interesting look at what it means to win at all costs. Winning Time premiers Sunday, March 6 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

What We Can Learn From the Harmful Body Shaming Culture Around the University of Oregon Track Program
